Coiling Silk (Chan Si Gong) is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable styles of qigong, China’s ancient system of healing exercises and meditations.
The lovely circular movements, like the turning of a silk cocoon on a spindle, unwind energetic knots and dissolve areas of tension.
Learn to gently open and close the joints, improve posture and breathing, and stimulate the life force, or qi, to flow without obstruction.
To complement these techniques, we will practice Bagua Zhang “Walking the Circle,” an incredibly grounding and energising exercise modelled on the dynamic spiralling power of the dragon. A perfect exercise to harmonise with the energy of Glastonbury’s mythic dragons! Finally, return to stillness as we learn tranquil qigong seated meditations.
The workshop includes intensive practice and review, meditation, discussion, and breaks to wander and enjoy the mists, magic, shops, and qi of Avalon!
Ken Cohen, MA, is a world-renowned qigong and tai chi grandmaster. A former collaborator with Alan Watts, he is the author of The Way of Qigong and more than 200 journal articles on spirituality and health. Ken’s presentations have been sponsored by the American Cancer Society, Health Canada, the International Conference on Daoist Studies (Taiwan), and numerous universities. A dynamic and inspiring teacher with more than 50 years of experience, he is the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Energy Medicine.
