Does living in a friendly supportive community setting appeal to you?
The long-standing group CHOISS Edinburgh welcomes new enquirers to an informal cafe-style catch up. We shall meet in person at Bridgend Farmhouse Cafe, 41 Old Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh EH16 4TE - another community led initiative - at 10.30am on Saturday 13 July.
10.30am - 12.30pm chat followed by bring and share lunch. All welcome!

§ Cohousing is a group of homes created by residents; members manage the community and often share meals
§ Cohousing creates neighbourly support and can resolve the loneliness many people experience today.
Cohousing communities are formed on five principles:
1 Co-designed with the members of the community – who help design new buildings or renovate old ones; with shared social activities, child play areas, gardens and food growing
2 Private homes + ‘Common House’ – cooking, dining, meeting and play areas, laundry and guest rooms – allowing for smaller homes as there are common areas for social interaction
3 Usually between 10 to 40 households – with a design encouraging interaction, reducing car numbers - kept to the edge - with the ‘Common House’ near the middle or entrance
4 Resident control of all decision making – development and maintenance, finance, gardens etc – often using consensus decision making / active consent, with adults making the decisions and regularly contributing a few hours work / week
5 Inclusive and part of a diverse wider community – with open membership; groups often host neighbourhood activities in the shared space and Common House.
