Cohesion Summit #2

Come with your thing, form teams, launch projects together! Honestly, this one might actually knock your socks off!
About this Event

Come with an idea, dream, or project, leave with energy and collaborators!

Welcome to the second installment of the Cohesion Summit series. When people work separately to tackle the same problem, unaware of each other, they often do the same things with less resources and miss out on collaboration. Our mission is to bring people together, in-person, to work together, breaking down the fake silos.

You will be in a room with a range of people across sectors and life experiences, and through creativity, will-power, and FUN, find something to unite each other and form a cohesive team!

The event itself is collaborative; as such, we encourage you to give as detailed and as honest feedback as you can! Please send us your favorite event facilitation method, your opinion on the vibe, venue, etc. All feedback (which a participant consents to publicize, anonymously if they so choose) will be used to co-create the next summit. Attendees are invited to an online (Gathertown.io) co-creation session the week after the summit, on Oct 16th at 7pm.

What this event isn’t:

  • A hackathon
  • A corporate networking event

What this event will have you do:

  • Find the intersection between your self/project and other people around you
  • Connect with people who have interesting new ideas, whether they are similar to yours or not
  • HAVE FUN!

Here's the itinerary:

6pm - Meet up nearby, at the Glasgow Parkette, with free tea and good vibes

7pm - flow into the Cecil Community Centre

7:15pm - Welcoming speech!

7:20pm - Rotating quick pitches: in groups of 3, share your thing for 2 minutes each, share “yes and”-style feedback for 4 minutes as a group, switch groups, repeat :)

8pm - Snack break!

8:15pm - Thing sharing: write down your thing on a piece of paper, write a tag/category for it on the other side.

8:21pm - Walk around the room and create teams of 4-6 people based on similarities, and vibes, and awesomeness

8:32pm - Think of a thing that connects or helps all of your things, and write down how you all can work on it

8:55pm - Present your cohesive project to everyone at the event

9:30 onwards - Mingling, connecting, networking time

10pm - Leave Cecil Community Centre and… walk to a bar? :)

We’re excited to have you! Invite as many people as you like. Capacity is 150 people, tickets are $17 (if you can’t afford tickets, reach out to us and we can help). If you want to support us, feel free to purchase a donation-tier ticket which will help us host more of these events in the future (and be very thankful to you)!
