Join us, for a Book club designed for Friends who care deeply about the future of Downtown Martinsburg. This month we'll be discussing Your City Is Sick, by Jeff Seigler. If you’re interested in learning more about how you can play a part in Martinsburg’s revitalization efforts, then this book club is for you! Each month, we'll be reading and discussing different books centered around Downtown Revitalization.Jeff Siegler argues that unhealthy urban environments negatively impact residents' physical, mental, and economic well-being, proposing that cities should be treated like living organisms that need care. The book critiques traditional economic development, advocating for a shift towards investing in existing places, fostering walkability, preserving heritage, and building community pride through incremental, everyday actions to create places people want to live in. It challenges communities to move beyond apathy and focus on quality of life to attract and retain residents
This event is Free for our Friends of Main Street, and catering will be provided by Glazed Empire Bakery. We’ll see you at Cloud Nine, at 10am on May 2nd! Come ready to discuss the book!
