About this Event
One of the most enduring American artistic traditions, quilting reflects generations of knowledge, technical expertise and creative expression. Quilts blend beauty and utility. They are valued for the care, memory and cultural meaning stitched into them. Yet preserving these large, pieced works can present unique challenges. Join us as we explore African American quilts in the museum’s collection and learn techniques to store and preserve them over the long term. Guests are invited to bring a quilt for consultation with museum staff.
