REMINDERhello coffee lovers,
Jamaica Blue Busselton is pleased to say that we will be adjusting our Business hours for ANZAC day.
ANZAC day is a day that honours those who served our country in the Gallipoli Campaign during World War l. More so a day to celebrate and thank all of the Australian and New Zealanders who fought and lost their lives.
The significance of the ANZAC biscuit:
- During the war, the wives/family members of the soldiers would bake ANZAC biscuits and send them to the soldiers. ANZAC biscuits were favourable because they do not contain any egg so they could last the long voyage from home to the soldiers.
- these ANZAC biscuits were a symbol of support from home, love and connection.
DAWN SERVICE
The Busselton community dawn service is held at Busselton War Memorial, Rotary Park, Causeway Rd.
The dawn service will begin at 5:30 and will continue as the sun rises.
WHY AT DAWN?
The significane of the Memorial service being at Dawn is because during WWl the ANZAC troops landed in Gallipoli at dawn, on the 25th of April 1915. They would land at dawn for tactical reasons. So our dawn services are held at the same time to symbolise the exact moment the soldiers went into battle.
WHY WE ARE OPENING:
- We have decided to open at 5:10 for takeaway hot drinks, and a deal for a small hot drink and an ANZAC biscuit because we believe that this community event is very important and significant.
- Opening earlier can encourage people to come in and grab a coffee to wake up and warm up and be apart of this event. Thanking our fallen soldiers and supporting those who did make it home.
We hope to see you!
Thank you,
Jb team **
