About this event

Welcome to OUR Generation's Coercive Control Awareness & Response Initiative (CARI) event.

Coercive control within a relationship is an internationally recognised form of abuse and it is becoming an increasingly common method for abusers to exert control over victims.

Owing to the often gradual way in which coercive control is established, the signs can be very difficult to spot leading to many victims unknowingly being the target of abuse.

In response to this, Aspire2Achieve is running the Coercive Control Awareness & Response Initiative (CARI), a fantastic workshop in Belfast which will equip attendees with the knowledge and skills to spot and better understand coercive control.

Perfect for youth facing staff and volunteers by the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Understand the Overview of Coercive control and on use the Training Toolkit

Understand Coercive Control within the Law

Know what Coercive Control looks Like

Know the different types of Coercive Control & their Social-Cultural Considerations

Understand what Coercive Control feels like & who can be a victim

Understand Risk Factors & Myths

Be able to Recognise the Signs & Professional Responses

Understand how to respond safely and supportively within your remit of responsibility
