In a world where it’s hard to be a true pioneer, DJ Andy Smith stands out as one of the rare few who genuinely pushed boundaries. Hailing from Portishead near Bristol, a region steeped in musical innovation thanks to acts like Massive Attack, Portishead, and Roni Size, Andy’s journey began at age 12, DJing youth clubs with a homemade setup. His partnership with Nick Halkes (founder of XL and Positiva) and his early work with Portishead, providing samples for their first two groundbreaking albums, cemented his influence. Soon after, he became their official tour DJ and earned recognition as one of the Top 20 Greatest DJs of All Time by Future Music Magazine and Music Radar.

Andy made history with The Document series, the first multi-genre DJ mix released on a major label, which sold over 100,000 copies and paved the way for generations of genre-blending compilations. His mastery across styles led to acclaimed projects with Trojan, Greensleeves, BGP, and BBE Records, showcasing his unmatched ability to tell musical stories that transcend trends. Known for his all-vinyl sets and magnetic stage presence, Andy continues to tour globally, proving that his passion and creative fire show no signs of slowing down.
