On Saturday, February 8, at 8 PM, the Valley Symphony Orchestra returns to Brownsville at the TSC Performing Arts Center for 'Cocktails Con Fuerza', a concert that captures the rhythm, romance, and soul of symphonic music.This year’s program is as bold and captivating as ever, featuring everything from Gershwin’s Cuban Overture, inspired by the vibrant nightlife of Havana, to thrilling arrangements of Duke Ellington and Frank Sinatra jazz classics, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 “Unfinished.” Plus, indulge in the South Texas premiere of Grammy and Latin Grammy-nominated Gabriela Ortiz’s 'Antrópolis', described by The New York Times as having “orchestral sophistication and grooving joy [that] would make West Side Story jealous.”
