About this Event
Join Spinner Publications for the first in a series of intimate author talks. These talks are to celebrate the 45th year of Spinner documenting, photographing, archiving, and publishing the history of the Southeastern region of Massachusetts. John Bullard, a former mayor of New Bedford will talk about his memoir, Hometown, a Spinner publication. This event will start with a meet and greet with cocktails and passed hor d'oeuvres. This will be followed by an entertaining, lively talk by Bullard about his book and service as mayor of New Bedford (1986-1992). Bullard is a wonderful speaker and full of fascinating information about the political world that helped shaped New Bedford and the surrounding towns, and the role he played.
The Wamsutta Club, which is located in the James Arnold Mansion, 247 County Street in New Bedford, was chosen for this event, not only because of its ample parking, historic significance to the city, 19th century architecture with chandeliers, fireplaces, and ambiance, but due to Bullard's family connections to the mansion. Please join us to celebrate 45 years of Spinner Publications, Inc. Enjoy a variety of passed hor d'oeuvres, cash bar, and a meet and greet with Bullard, along with an entertaining talk about his book Hometown: A Memoir. Wamsutta Club, 247 County Street, New Bedford, MA 02740, 6-8, Thursday, January 15, 2026. $35 a ticket. Please call Spinner at 508-994-4564 to order tickets or order through Eventbrite.
