You will sometimes hear people divide spirits into ‘mixing’ and ‘sipping’ categories, as if to imply that if a spirit is of a high enough quality, its subtleties will be lost in a cocktail. While this can be the case for some mixtures, generally the better the inputs, the better the outputs. There is something truly luxurious about mixing a cocktail with top-shelf spirits as its base.
In this class, Evan Christie will mix classic cocktails with top shelf spirits. Where once one may have opted for a solid, budget-friendly bottle, expect something entirely more decadent - a Martini where both gin and vermouth are among the top priced in their category, an Old Fashioned with a well-aged whiskey, or even a sidecar with an XO brandy. Expect to taste the difference in the exploration of sybaritic mixology.
