FREE Dockside Safety Checks – May 24th at 10:30 AM! 🚨This summer, Station Tawas is launching a proactive safety initiative to help boaters stay compliant before they leave the dock — and Wheeler Landing is proud to host them!
Their boarding team will be on-site May 24th starting at 10:30 AM to provide complimentary, no‑fault recreational safety boardings for any vessel whose owner gives permission.
What’s included in the safety check:
Verification of required safety gear
Life jackets, fire extinguishers, visual distress signals
Ensuring equipment is present, functional, and up to date
Zero fines or penalties — simply correct any issues before heading out
Why participate?
Once your vessel passes a pier‑side safety check, it’s noted in their system. If you’re stopped on the water later, your boarding may be significantly expedited — and in most cases, you may not need to be boarded again for the rest of the season. More time enjoying the river, less time waiting.
How to sign up:
A sign‑up sheet is posted in the clubhouse on the bulletin board near the kitchenette. Add your name and slip number to reserve your spot.
