Are you ready to take on the trails with confidence? Whether you’re gearing up for an ultramarathon or want to sharpen your skills on the trails, our coached trail runs are designed for runners looking to take their trail running to the next level.

These sessions are more than just a workout. They’re an investment in your trail running journey that will keep you strong and efficient on the toughest terrain. So join our experienced head coach as he offers tips and techniques that will boost your knowledge and confidence on the trails.

Details

When: 09:00am, Sunday 29th September 2024.

Where to meet: Abergavenny, NP7 5DL (details on exactly where to meet emailed to runners the day before, parking is free).

Spaces available: numbers limited to 10 people to ensure a personalised experience.

What to expect: We'll use a hilly route to run through good trail technique for uphill/downhill running and running on technical terrain. If you have poles, you're welcome to bring them and we'll touch on how to use them effectively. We'll also cover any other questions you have about your running.

Distance/elevation: expect to do approx. 8-9 miles with around 2,000ft of elevation.

Difficulty: coached runs are aimed at runners taking on trail races / ultra marathons and/or runners with some experience of trail running who want to sharpen their skills. These runs are not suitable for beginners or anyone looking for a sociable trail run (see our trail running adventures for those).

Duration: we'll be out for approximately 3 hours.

Kit: suitable running gear for the conditions. As a minimum, please bring:

• Trail shoes
• Jacket (waterproof if wet)
• Spare warm layer
• 1 litre of water (minimum) and snacks
• Charged mobile phone
• Poles (if you have them)
• Running pack or small rucksack to carry some of the items listed above

We also recommend you bring a spare bag with dry clothes to change into after your run.

Who leads the coached runs?

Our head coach, Christian Servini. Christian's a certified UESCA Ultra Running Coach, UK Athletics Licensed Coach and Run Leader, trained Mountain Leader and Outdoor First Aid certified. He's a Salomon trail running ambassador and has completed multiple trail and ultra marathons over varying distances and days. All routes are fully reccied and risk assessed.
