Coach and Ride: The Basics | Surrey Hills MTB

Coaching isn't just about technical improvement; it is about finding more enjoyment on the trails. Our 'Basics' sessions are designed for novice riders and beginners who want to build a solid foundation in a supportive, inclusive environment.
We keep our groups small—typically just eight riders—to ensure you get the individual attention you need to feel confident on the dirt.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲’𝐬 𝐈𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲: We follow a simple, proven formula that combines structured learning with a proper ride:
Expert coaching focusing on the core fundamentals. We’ll cover bike setup (including suspension and tyre pressures), the 'Ready Position' for off-road posture, gear selection, and effective braking.
𝐀 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥. We usually head to the famous Peaslake Village Stores or the Hurtwood Inn.
A guided ride through the woodland trails of Holmbury and Pitch Hills. This is where you put your new skills into practice on a progressive route specifically chosen by your coach to build your confidence.
𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞? If you are comfortable riding a bike on smooth terrain or roads and are looking to move into off-road riding, this is for you. We welcome both conventionally powered mountain bikes and e-bikes.

𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: We are based in the heart of the Surrey Hills, a National Landscape that is surprisingly easy to reach from across the South East.
𝐁𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐥: We are just a short distance from Gomshall station, which has direct connections (approx. 1 hour) from London via Dorking or Guildford.
𝐁𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝: Easily accessible via the A3 or A24. We meet at the Hurtwood Hideout, which offers a straightforward start to your day on the hills.
