Women’s Adventure Club: Learn to Lead ClimbSaturday 24 January | Beacon Climbing Centre
Women’s Adventure Club is taking on Learning to Lead Climb this month at Beacon Climbing Centre.
These sessions are designed for women who are confident top-rope climbers and want to take the next step into lead climbing and lead belaying, or for those who already lead but would like a skills refresher in a calm, supportive environment.
Sessions are led by Emily Whitefoot, (CWDI/RCI) in very small groups to allow plenty of individual coaching.
Session times
Two identical sessions available:
Morning: 10.00am – 1.00pm
Afternoon: 2.00pm – 5.00pm
Group size: Maximum 4 women per session
What the session will cover
Content will be tailored to the group, but will typically include:
Lead climbing safety principles
Lead belaying
Clipping techniques and rope management, ghost leads
Managing slack and communication between climber and belayer
Falling safely and building confidence above the bolt
Common errors and how to avoid them
Good practice for indoor lead climbing
This is a skills-focused session, designed to build confidence, competence, and good habits rather than pushing grades.

Women who are confident top-roping
Those new to lead climbing
Women who have led before but want a skills refresher after a break
You do not need to be climbing hard grades to take part.
