About this Event

Join us for an evening of reflection, mystery and conversation as we dive into Criaturita, the acclaimed novel by Spanish author María Bastarós.

Set around the eerie Lake Milagro, the story follows Kaila, a 19-year-old haunted by the disappearance of her father, a biologist obsessed with a creature that may be lurking beneath the water. As women begin to vanish from nearby towns, myth and reality intertwine in a haunting exploration of identity, absence and womanhood.

Criaturita is a coming-of-age tale infused with psychological tension and subtle fantasy that invites us to question what lies beneath the surface in the lake, in our families and within ourselves.

To get the most out of this activity, we recommend reading the book in Spanish. Please note that the book club takes place in this language.
