To celebrate Transgender Awareness Month we want to give back to the community by holding a clothing swap/gender marker change event.At Tamworth Pride Inc we recognise the increased costs our Trans & Gender diverse members face to be able to access the gender affirming care they need.
Its our hope that by holding this event our Trans & Gender diverse community can feel supported and loved.
To participate bring a bag of clothing you want to swap and you'll be able to choose clothing thar affirms your gender in return.
We also hope our community will embrace this event by donating clothing they don't need anymore to have on hand in case we have people wanting to participate who have no clothes to swap.
We are also combining this event with being able to provide some JP's and computers to be able to get your gender marker changed on your birth certificate.
This costs a significant amount of money - $70 just to register the change and that doesn't include an updated birth certificate.
We are hopeful we could call on the community to help us fund some of these registrations. If you are happy to donate some funds please email us at [email protected] and we'll send you our bank details.
We know its a lot to ask but it could make a world of difference to a trans or gender diverse person who can't afford to do this. People shouldn't have to choose between food or rent and being able to have documents that reflect their true gender.
