Join us for our guided clothing repair workshop held in the Eco-Hub!
About this Event

Have you ever wanted to learn to sew? Then come along to our free workshop at the Eco-Hub and leave with a skill for life! The workshop is beginner friendly and will help you get more wear out of your favourite clothes and save your money! Picking up from last week's class, this week will focus on further embroidery techniques for clothing.

Bring along your own item to mend and by the end of the workshop, come away with a repaired garment and a sense of achievement! If you don't have an item, we will have fabric samples on hand that you can use to practice techniques. See pictures below of the kinds of stitching you can learn at this workshop.

All supplies are included in the workshop, no experience is needed, just enthusiasm and willingness to learn! Tea and Coffee will be available to purchase on the day for 50p a cup.

Event Information:

The event will take place in Room 206 on Level 2 of the Boyd Orr Building (Previously the Piccolino Cafe). You can find directions here.

There is an accesible entrance to the Eco-Hub via University Gardens and the James McCune Smith Learning Hub for those who need it. If you have any additional accessiblity issues, please contact Lauren ([email protected]) and she will be happy to support if possible.

There are 10 tickets available for this workshop. If you can't make the event, please cancel your ticket in advance or contact Lauren so we can keep on top of numbers.

Additional Info on the Eco-Hub: The new Eco-Hub offers services that benefit both people and the planet. The Eco-Hub is for staff, students and the wider community and has been introduced by the Sustainability Team, Student & Academic Services and GUEST (Glasgow University Environmental and Sustainability Team). We host a permanent community fridge and a swap-shop as part of the GUEST Student2Student Essentials Programme. We offer regular activities such as plant swaps, bike repair sessions and practical climate-engaged workshops like clothing repair sessions and sustainable crafting. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10am - 6pm.
