St. James Coffee will be closing early (noon) to observe Good Friday. The death of our Lord is the most solemn day of the church year. So much so that Catholics do not have Mass (as they do every other day of the year), just a service. Good Friday cannot be a Holy Day of Obligation, because there is not a Mass. You do not have to go, but it is a beautiful service to attend.
On Good Friday we commemorate Jesus' crucifixion and death, which is central to our faith and a selfless act of love that redeems humanity. We unite with Christ's suffering by reflecting on the Passion of Christ, venerating the cross, and denying ourselves decadence. This day of mourning and reflection is a way to honor Jesus' sacrifice, which opened the path to salvation and eternal life.
God Bless!
