This event will be a collaborative breakfast workshop designed to generate discussion amongst attendees.
Many seeds have been planted to position Brazil as a tremendous investment opportunity for climate action, yet deploying capital is still a challenge. Investments in new markets, new methods of agricultural production and from new financial vehicles are rapidly needed to meet climate goals. With next year’s COP30 putting a spotlight on Brazil, the moment has come to collaborate amongst investors, value chain companies, policymakers and others to drive a permanent shift in thinking for the value of nature and sustainable agriculture in Brazil. At this breakfast workshop during New York Climate Week, attendees will participate in a workshop to identify common ground and gaps that need to be closed in our thinking around managing climate-related financial risks and emerging opportunities including:
- Exploring the interplay between climate change’s physical impacts, international regulations and emerging market dynamics, and how they shape financial risks and opportunities in Brazil's key agricultural sectors and global value chains.
- Reviewing how investments in Brazilian nature-based solutions are impacted by shifts in the agricultural space, and how this will impact the value of land assets across Brazil.
- Discussing the current state and momentum in the Brazilian nature-based solutions market and potential toward COP30 in Brazil.
- Understanding new financial analysis strategies for navigating climate transition challenges and seizing opportunities as Brazil takes a leadership role in global climate action leading up to COP30.
- Discussing potential avenues for cross-sectoral cooperation to mitigate financial risks and become a climate leader in Brazil's agribusiness or nature-based solution sectors amidst the transition to a low carbon future.
