About this Event
In this training, participants will learn about effective documentation for psychotherapy. The goal is to create the medical record in such a way that it is accurate, easy to understand, meets the requirements of the state and the insurance companies, protects the client and the therapist, and is attentive to nuance and cultural considerations. Participants will also learn strategies for efficiency in their written work to avoid stress and burnout for clinicians.
Learning Objectives:
- Name and apply elements of an appropriate writing style for clinical documentation.
- Name 7 potential audiences for the medical record and explain how those audiences inform the writing.
- Understand legal and ethical requirements for Diagnostic Assessments, Treatment Plans, and Progress Notes.
- Acknowledge cultural considerations when creating the medical record.
- Implement one strategy to increase efficiency in clinical writing.
