About this Event

Join us for a dynamic day of networking, learning, and discussion focused on Intellectual Disabilities and Autism within forensic mental health services.

Our Chair, Dr Jana de Villiers, Clinical Lead, will guide us through a series of thought-provoking presentations exploring best practices and challenges in working with patients in forensic intellectual disability services and those with Autism.

We’re also delighted to announce that Professor Regi Alexander, Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead in Forensic Learning Disability, will be joining us to present on Autism in Context in Forensic Settings. In addition to Professor Alexander's presentation, Dr Sheila Howitt, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist (Female High Secure Service) - The State Hospital will deliver an update on the Women's Service at The State Hospital along with providing an insight into the outreach service delivered by her team. Dr Alistair Morris, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist – NHS Lothian will provide a case series presentation on Autistic Spectrum Disorders and the Prevent Counter Terrorism Programme.

We will also be joined by Professor John Crichton, Medical Director - Mental Welfare Commission and Chief Inspector Graeme Gallie, Police Scotland.

Whether you're a clinician, researcher, support worker, or stakeholder in forensic services, this event offers a valuable opportunity to connect, reflect, and grow.

Lunch is provided as part of your attendance fee. Venue will be confirmed in October, but will be in Stirling, UK.
