From Lost to Leading
How do you find your way when life feels untethered? For Liz Barile-Page, the answer lay in scaling cliffs and trekking across wild landscapes. In this heartfelt and inspiring talk, she shares her transformational journey from a difficult personal crisis to becoming a leader in both her life and the mountains.
Through climbing and solo long-distance trekking, Liz discovered the healing and grounding power of connecting with nature and pushing personal boundaries. With insights drawn from her own adventures, she explores why wild places and bold challenges are not just luxuries, but essential to human well-being.
This talk will leave you inspired to embrace your own adventures—whether they’re deep within or out in the wild.
During the evening, there will be the opportunity to meet like minded folk who you may be inspired to plan adventures with along with plenty of outdoor professionals who can offer you the professional support you might be looking for to help you on your journey to outdoor adventuring. Join us for an evening of storytelling, networking and community with outdoor folk from all over Devon.
Craig
Craig grew up in Scotland which meant he was lucky enough to have access to the hills and mountains since his teenage years. He's walked most place in the UK, been mountaineering and ski touring in the Alps and Pyrenees and has been further afield to Nepal, Australia and New Zealand. Since moving to Devon a little under 20 years ago Craig has spent lots of time on Dartmoor, either as a member of Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton or leading groups of adults or children. Since gaining his Mountain Leader (Summer) qualification in 2014 he's taught and assessed on Hill & Moorland Leader courses and taught on Mountain Leader(Summer) courses. He's also taken private clients onto Dartmoor on fell runs, guided walks, navigation refreshers and navigation master classes. He has a BSc in Geology and a real interest in Dartmoor flora, archaeology and industrial history and really enjoys sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with others.
Lizze
Originally from the flatlands of Florida, Liz Barile-Page found her footing—literally and metaphorically—amidst the Cornish Seacliffs and peaks of the UK. After an unexpected divorce, she turned to climbing and solo long-distance trekking as a way to navigate the wilderness of her own life.
Educated as an artist, paid for her kit with time in business development, she has since retrained as a holistic coach and qualified as a Summer Mountain Leader. Now the founder of Inner Adventure Guide, she empowers others to explore the profound connection between personal growth, nature, and adventure. Liz is always ‘Out to Get In,’ highlighting her belief in the healing power of wild places and the adventures that take us there.
Her work blends mindfulness, yoga, and nature-based practices to inspire transformation—inside and out.
