About this Event
About the workshop: Climate writing as a concept can seem like an overwhelming task. How do you begin to invent a transformed world, from social constructs to ecological restoration to infrastructure? Whether you’re a fiction writer, journaler, or looking to tell a personal climate story, this workshop will help you approach your craft with renewed vision. We’ll examine how writers and advocates use story as a tool for social change, and take a deeper dive into their framing of climate issues. We will explore climate writing in all its forms, as well as tools to bring your imagined world to life. After all, as I once heard a climate advocate say, “policy work is imagination work.” This workshop will include generative writing time, reflection, and discussion.
About the instructor: Carly Schmidt (she/her) is the Director of Membership & Communications at River Network, an organization that builds and strengthens a national movement for clean water.
