About this Event

Local schools are invited to join us for an inspiring, hands‑on day of climate learning and action at the University of Reading’s Whiteknights Campus.

This interactive event brings together local schools, University of Reading staff, and Climate Ambassadors to explore practical ways to make schools greener, more resilient, and climate‑ready.

What to Expect

Students will rotate through a series of four 60‑minute educational activities, each linked to the four pillars of School Climate Action Plans (as outlined by the Department for Education).
Activities will showcase how schools can:

  • Reduce carbon emissions
  • Boost biodiversity and climate resilience
  • Strengthen climate education across subjects
  • Connect with experts driving real‑world climate solutions

Hands‑On Learning

Sessions will include:

  • Exploring renewable energy and its history
  • Measuring weather and climate using real instruments
  • Conducting biodiversity surveys
  • Estimating carbon capture by trees

All activities will be led by University of Reading staff and local Climate Ambassadors, using facilities such as the Learning Garden and Atmospheric Observatory.
