About this Event

Are you worried or concerned about climate change? Does the climate crisis make you anxious? Want to take local climate action but don’t know how or where? Join our Climate Cafe at the Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) to discuss everything related to the climate crisis (including how it makes you feel).

Why This Matters

Climate change isn’t just transforming our planet—it’s shaping how we think, feel, and show up in the world. Approximately 40% of adults worldwide report experiencing climate-related anxiety or stress, with higher rates among younger generations (60% in ages 16–25) (GlobeScan 2025, Lancet Planetary Health). In the midst of escalating disasters and uncertainty, we urgently need spaces to navigate our climate emotions and translate them into action. This is not just about information. It’s about transformation. It’s about building the emotional resilience needed to face these challenges while staying grounded, hopeful, and engaged. There is a powerful connection between individual wellbeing and collective action. When you stabilize your emotional state, you stabilize your capacity to act.

What to Expect

Whether you're a concerned citizen, an activist, or just curious about the topic, this community-organized space is for you. Come and have open and meaningful conversations about the climate crisis; share your ideas, listen to inspiring talks, learn about local initiatives and connect with like-minded individuals. Gain practical tools and resources for cultivating emotional resilience, alongside concrete strategies for taking meaningful, values-aligned action in your community.

Join the Change

Become a part of a network of thousands of activists and concerned citizens through climate cafés worldwide. The 2026 BPL Climate Cafe Series intends to focus on linking climate concern and anxiety to local action, exploring technologies, innovations, and initiatives for climate action in the broad sense.
