Welcome to our empathetic space, where you can talk through your feelings and thoughts about the climate crisis. And have a cup of coffee :)
About this Event

Climate Cafe

The world can be a difficult place to exist in, and increasingly so, as we witness the climate crisis impacting everything we hold dear. It can be hard to think about the present, let alone the future. Many of us will be facing a confusing mix of emotions as the emergency unfolds: fear, worry, grief, guilt, numbness, anger . . . but also, potentially, a love and thankfulness for what we have, and even hope.
This 'Climate Cafe', guided by the work of the Climate Psychology Alliance, is an informal community support group organised by several concerned Lewisham residents. Two empathetic facilitators are on hand at every session, but ultimately it is a group-led conversation. It is a safe - non-judgemental, confidential - and inclusive space to connect with what we are feeling and with others.

The address*:
Community Room (back of the ground floor, to the left of the main desk)
Forest Hill Library
Dartmouth Road
London
SE23 3HZ
*For wheelchair access, please use the side entrance to the left of the library building.

Who is this for?
Anyone 18+ who thinks they might benefit from exploring their feelings on the climate crisis - definitely no expertise required. It can be taboo to talk about our emotions on this topic. If you have anything unexpressed or unsaid in this area, or you just want to reflect on how you really feel, the Climate Cafe is for you.
We welcome too anyone involved in climate activism, although our focus in the sessions is not on action or guiding anyone towards particular conclusions. We do not recruit people to protest or environmental groups in the space.
Do contact us if you have particular accessibility needs, and we will do our best to make adaptations where we can.
Please note:
Unfortunately, we can't accommodate latecomers after 10 minutes into the session, so please do arrive promptly.

This event is free to take part in but if you would like to make a small donation to help cover running costs, you can do so on the ticket page of the booking process, or in person at the session. Thank you.
