Join us on Sunday 2nd of March for a fun-filled Clean up Day with fellow Decathletes!
This year, thanks to our partners Clean-Up-Australia and Kayak Melbourne, we offer you 3 options to take care of the beating heart of your beloved city: the Yarra River.
- Kayaking - Cruise & Clean the Yarra River. Only 40 spots available so get in quick!
- Walking - A family-friendly and meaningful morning activity on the river banks.
- Cycling - casually pedal down the river and leave the path shining behind you.
All groups are to meet on 1-7 Boathouse Drive, Melbourne VIC 3004. It is on the riverbank in front of the Kayak and Rowing Clubrooms/Boatsheds, opposite side of Fed Square.
Who: the cycling group will be led by Decathlon’s Sustainability Leader, Felix; the kayaking group will be led by the skilled guides from Kayak Melbourne; and the family-friendly walking team will be led by the expert and passionate team of Clean Up Australia.
What to bring?
Sunscreen, reusable water bottle, and your smile.
- If you are kayaking, make sure you come wearing clothes you are ok to get wet, or bring a change of clothes with you!
- If you are walking, then just some comfy shoes (all safety and clean up equipment will be provided)
- If you are cycling, then bring your bike, helmet ideally with a pannier rack, a basket or a backpack to carry some rubbish (rubbish bags provided).
Kayaking details & conditions:
Maximum 40 people can be accommodated on the 20x 2-person boats kindly provided by Kayak Melbourne.
- Max Height: 6’4” or 195cm
- Max Weight: 120kg per person
- Minimum Age: 10yo (unless attending parent is an experienced paddler).
PLEASE NOTE: It will be first come first serve so please be on time if you want to kayak! Other participants will have the opportunity to clean up the park and river banks nearby by walking, running or cycling
