School Holiday workshop, Ages 6 +Bookings Essential
Join us for a special opportunity and cultural experience led by Lyndon Davis as he engages in storytelling focusing around the Shell Middens in Tewantin. Enjoy the captivating storytelling Lyndon is known for and then use your newfound knowledge of the shells that formed the middens to mold your own shells using air dry clay.
Each participate will create multiple shells, (minimum 3 each) to contribute to a collaborative display that will be shown during the child focused Imaginate exhibition over the Winter school holidays. Children will also have the opportunity to create one shell to take home with them on the day.
Parents welcome to stay
About Lyndon Davis
Lyndon Davis is a Gubbi Gubbi artist, educator and cultural performer. Raised on the Sunshine Coast-Gubbi Gubbi country by his grandmother, Lyndon’s arts practice represents his deep connection to country and depicts stories of his region’s flora and fauna and creation stories. He is involved in delivering cultural awareness to schools throughout the area. He also operates the successful Gubbi Gubbi Dance troupe.
Despite such impressive audiences as the Queen, the Dalai Lama and past Prime Ministers, a humble Lyndon Davis says, "what would have meant more than anything to me would have been to perform in front of my nan and uncles if they were still here today."
