Although a scion and doyen of the Patiala-Kasur Gharana (style), primarily representing Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib's gayaki, his vocals also portray features of other major classical gharanas of North India, and even Carnatic music of South India. He has been awarded the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan awards by the Government of India.
Accompanying Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty will be Gourab Chatterjee (Harmonium), Soumen Sarkar (Tabla) and Meher Paralikar (Vocals).
