The Westerly Trio and Anna Dias are well known at the Old Low Light but this time they are combining forces with some delightful repertoire.
About this Event

Continuing our classical music programme for 2026, we are very pleased to welcome back to the Old Low Light Heritage Centre the Westerly Trio and soprano Anna Dias.

While both have performed previously at the centre, this time they are joining forces with some delightful repertoire for chamber ensemble and soprano which is being specially arranged for the occasion.

Further details of the programme will be available nearer the event.

The Westerly Trio comprises Rachel Jeffers (flute), Jessica Graham (violin) and David Murray (piano) who have previously presented a lovely mix of repertoire from Baroque to 20th century.

The trio formed in 2012 when the three good friends decided to get together to explore the delightful and extensive repertoire for violin, flute and piano. The name Westerly was chosen because two of the musicians own sailing yachts built by the legendary Westerly boatbuilders and all three are keen sailors.

Soprano Anna Dias, who previously at the Old Low Light has been accompanied by David Murray on the piano, completed her undergraduate studies at Newcastle University, achieving a first-class degree before embarking on a career in education working first at Barnard Castle as a music teacher before moving to Scarborough College.

While at Newcastle, Anna was greatly involved in music opportunities, singing with the Newcastle University Chamber Choir and conducting the choir in her second year. She was also cast as the role of Dido in the university’s production of Dido and Aeneas.

Anna has had solo engagements, including Handel’s Dixit Dominus (Newcastle Bach Choir), Messiah (Bishopwearmouth Choral Society) and Bach’s Magnificent (Durham Singers). As a member of the prestigious Samling Academy, she has participated masterclasses and performed as a soloist in their annual concerts at the Glasshouse, Gateshead.

As a member of the National Youth Choir and National Youth Chamber Choir, she has performed at the BBC Proms and Carols at the Royal Albert Hall.

Once again, we are grateful to Whitley Bay musicians David and Jennifer Murray for bringing first rate music to the Old Low Light.
