This one-day workshop is the natural next step after our Care for Your Classics course.
Designed exclusively for those who have already completed the two-day class, it takes you deeper into the engine — the beating heart of your classic.
With expert guidance and plenty of hands-on practice, you’ll learn how to tackle real-world inspection and maintenance tasks with confidence.
What you’ll cover:
⚙️ Cylinder head work: Removal, inspection for distortion, valve removal, valve lapping, and reassembly techniques.
⚙️ Bore inspection: How to inspect and measure bore wear to assess engine condition.
⚙️ Crankshaft checks: Inspection of seal faces, bearing faces, and overall bearing condition.
⚙️ Camshaft assessment: Checking wear, condition, and alignment issues.
⚙️ Compression testing: Carrying out tests correctly and, more importantly, learning how to interpret the results to diagnose engine health.
This course isn’t about dry theory — it’s about getting your hands dirty, building real confidence, and developing the skills to look after your own car.
By the end of the day, you’ll be able to approach your engine with a trained eye, spotting issues early and understanding what your car is telling you.
Prerequisite: Completion of our 2-day Care for Your Classics course.
Location: Bicester Heritage site (Oxfordshire) - OX26 5HA
Duration: 1 Day - 10:00am start on the Saturday.
