About this Event
Flirt with the basic building blocks of burlesque and get acquainted with the art of the tease. From classic showgirl postures and poses, to walk, struts, turns, and transitions, this class will cover all the essential bumps, grinds and shimmies. Learn imaginative ways to peel off a glove, and how the “the strip” connects with “the tease”. Using these techniques, students will put it all together with a short choreo combination.
Join Ruby Joule, three-time award winner at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, and learn the sensual elegance of classic burlesque movement. Wear clothing you are comfortable moving and stretching in, and bring a pair of high heels if you wish. Bring your own over-the-elbow gloves, or a few will be provided for class use.

About Your Instructor:
Ruby Joule is a three-time award winner at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, and has been invited to teach her classes at BurlyCon (the largest burlesque educational convention in the world) over multiple years. Based in Austin, Texas, USA, she has traveled the world performing her award-winning burlesque acts and sharing her workshops from Australia to Europe and across North America since 2006. Ruby Joule is a classically trained dancer and film/theatre actress with over 20 years experience in ballet, jazz, ballroom and world dance. She has studied with the Legends of burlesque as well as contemporaries including Catherine D’Lish, Kitten de Ville and Michelle L’Amour. Ruby is known for her intertwining of sensuality and elegance, as well as the playful and lighthearted energy she brings to performing and teaching.
Students Should Bring:
Over-the-elbow gloves (I will also bring some for class use). Heels optional.
48-hour Class Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your registration and get a full refund when you contact the Academy more than 48 hours before the start of class. When you contact us with less than 48 hours notice, your fee is not refundable. You may however, transfer your spot to a friend or donate your spot.
A 3 student minimum will be required for a class to take place. In the event a class needs to be canceled due to low attendance, students and will be given 48 hrs notice and will be fully refunded.
