About this Event
Visit the Gantt for a special screening of the star-studded and epic 1974 film, Uptown Saturday Night, starring Sidney Poitier, Bill Cosby, and Harry Belafonte. All Classic Black Cinema films this season were released in 1974 -- the year of our founding -- to celebrate the Gantt Golden Year, our 50th anniversary!
Steve Jackson (Poitier) and Wardell Franklin (Cosby) sneak out of their houses to visit Madame Zenobia's, a high-class but illegal nightclub. During their visit, the club is robbed and they are forced to hand over their wallets. Steve's wallet contains a winning lottery ticket, and together, they go on an adventure to recover their stolen property.
