Join Dr Nye Davies and Dr Huw Williams in this event debating the politics and legacy of iconic Labour politician Aneurin Bevan.
About this Event

Mae Aneurin Bevan yn cael effaith sylweddol yng ngwleidyddiaeth Prydain ond er gwaethaf y parch sydd ynghlwm wrtho, mae anghytundeb yn parhau ynglŷn â'i wleidyddiaeth. Yn ei lyfr newydd 'The Political Thought of Aneurin Bevan', mae Nye Davies yn mynd i'r afael â Bevan fel meddyliwr gwleidyddol er mwyn cyrraedd calon ei wleidyddiaeth.

Yn y digwyddiad hwn, bydd yr athronydd Huw Williams yn ymuno â Nye Davies i drafod y llyfr a'r syniadau a oedd yn sail i feddwl gwleidyddol Bevan, gan gynnwys ei ddadansoddiad o wrthdaro dosbarth, ei ymrwymiad i wleidyddiaeth seneddol, a'i agwedd ar gysylltiadau rhyngwladol.

Yn ogystal â syniadau Bevan ei hun, bydd Nye a Huw yn ystyried etifeddiaeth Bevan heddiw yng Nghymru ac yn y Blaid Lafur. Ar adeg o anghytuno ideolegol dwys yn y blaid ac ar y chwith Prydeinig, bydd y digwyddiad hwn o ddiddordeb i unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb yn hanes y Blaid Lafur a dyfodol gwleidyddiaeth flaengar.
Aneurin Bevan has earned a substantial legacy in British politics. Yet, despite the reverence attached to him, there remain disagreements concerning his politics. In his new book ‘The Political Thought of Aneurin Bevan’, Nye Davies addresses Bevan as a political thinker in order to get to the heart of his politics.

In this upcoming event, Nye Davies is joined by philosopher Huw Williams to discuss the book and the ideas that underpinned Bevan’s political thought, including his analysis of class conflict, his commitment to parliamentary politics, and his outlook on international relations.

As well as Bevan’s own ideas, Nye and Huw will consider Bevan’s legacy today both in Wales and in the Labour Party. At a time of profound ideological disagreement in the party and on the British left, this event is a must-attend for anyone interested in the history of the Labour Party and the future of progressive politics.
