Come connect, learn, and experiment with classic darkroom techniques in a fun, relaxed setting. Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity to get inspired and add some vintage vibes to your curriculum!

Harwood has teamed up with local educator Teisha Holloway to offer a FREE darkroom educator workshop. This course is intended for all educators who are interested in offering or extending image based work into their classroom. Teisha has partnered with Harwood and IAIA to offer dual credit courses for High School students and will be available and willing to talk through the process of how to book and use a public darkroom like Harwood to expand Dual Credit offering to students through a partnership with IAIA or how to add image based options into your regular classroom.

This is a full day course with the morning focused on film developing and camera mechanics. The second half of the day is focused on enlarger use and print practices including chemical ratios. The whole day will include conversations focused on how to manage a classroom in the darkroom, navigating and signing up for dual credit instruction, launching a photography program at your school, and generally using a public space like Harwood Darkroom for educational purposes.

This workshop is free and the only ask is that you come with your own roll of film ready to shoot during our photowalk portion of the workshop. Paper and chemicals will all be provided, and cameras are available or you can bring your own. Film can be purchased at Picture Perfect or Camera and Darkroom both conveniently located in Albuquerque, NM. Film must be 35mm black and white for the purposes of this class. Recommendation is Ilford HP5 Plus 400 or Kentmere Pan 400.Film is also available for purchase online.

This workshop is designed for beginners and experts alike. Share your knowledge, refresh your skills, or sign up to teach Dual Credit at your program.
