Get ready for another fantastic Clarion Cycling Clubs Easter weekend!Following our wonderful time exploring Buxton, we're thrilled to announce that our Easter Meet in 2026 will be hosted in Wolverhampton!
We'll be basing our HQ at a Premier Inn (specific location to be confirmed), and just like our recent meets, we'll gather outside the hotel each morning for our rides on Good Friday, Easter Saturday, and Easter Sunday. Expect routes of around 30 miles on the first two days, with a slightly longer ride planned for Easter Sunday.
Of course, holding our meet in Wolverhampton carries a special significance for Clarion Cycling Clubs! As many of you know, it was on Good Friday in 1894 that seven pioneering members of the newly formed Clarion Cycling club embarked on their inaugural three-day tour. Setting off from Wolverhampton, they cycled down the Severn Valley and returned to Birmingham. Tom Groom, their leader, vividly recounted their cycling exploits, the camaraderie, the food, the drink, the fun, and their socialist message in The Clarion newspaper. This inspiring account directly led to the establishment of numerous Clarion Cycling Clubs, predominantly in the industrial heartlands of the Midlands, West Yorkshire, and Lancashire.
