About this Event
This class will guide participants through the process of making a box to enclose a book or other special belonging. If you’ve never made a box before, this is an excellent opportunity to try out the process. We will be using bookboard to create the case, and then covering it in paper or bookcloth to achieve a sturdy finished product. This will add many years of life onto works you wish to preserve and allow you to create a custom case for a book you love.
What you'll learn:
- Reasons for creating a case
- How to take precise measurements of your book
- How to make accurate cuts
- Case construction
- How to cover a case in bookcloth
What you'll make: A new clamshell case for a book of your choosing. Select from our collection of cover materials to create a piece that's uniquely yours and will protect your book for decades to come!
What's included: All materials minus the book you wish to create a case for! This includes case material, bookcloth or paper, glue, measuring tools, etc., as well as expert instruction throughout the day with individualized guidance.
Perfect for: Anyone who has a book they want to preserve in a beautiful box!
Note: This intensive format allows for deeper skill development and individual attention. Class size limited to 4 participants for maximum hands-on guidance and troubleshooting.
