Commemorating the 250th birthday of the United States of America and the 161st anniversary of the end of the American Civil War, Oakdale Historical Society is pleased to welcome TWO authors who used the historical backdrop of the Civil War in their novels.Join us in welcoming M.X. Kane, author and Civil War reenactor for a presentation on his captivating historical fiction trilogy, Period Rush: Tales of the Fighting 21st & Liz Finnegan, author and former editor of Suffolk County News, for a presentation on her exciting historical fiction novel Witness to Tribulation.
Period Rush: This three-volume work describes the odyssey of seven modern day Civil War Reenactors as they are kidnapped and forced to live through the actual Battle of Gettysburg. A blend of historical & science fiction, the trials of the Fighting
21st is not only about the battle and the American Civil War but also the internal struggles in which we all suffer to find true peace.
Witness to Tribulation: This historical fiction novel follows a woman named Emily who discovers an old Civil War diary within her home, bridging modern life with a past, haunted history. Rich with history, suspense, and a touch of the supernatural, Witness to Tribulation is a moving tale of generational bonds, resilience, and the eternal presence of family.
