Step behind the scenes of Invercargill’s Civic Theatre this Heritage Month and explore areas rarely seen by the public.Built in 1906 and celebrating its 120th year, the Civic Theatre is a Category 1 listed heritage building, celebrated for its stunning architecture and cultural significance.
On this guided tour, you’ll journey from front of house to backstage, visiting function spaces, dressing rooms, and other areas not usually open to the public.
Over the decades, the Civic Theatre has welcomed an extraordinary lineup of performers, from The Rolling Stones in 1965 and classic Kiwi bands like Six60, to international comedians Bill Bailey and Jimmy Carr.
Two guided tours are available, at 10.00am and 11.30am. Step behind the curtains and discover the stories these walls have witnessed over more than a century.
