Let’s create multi-functional infrastructure simultaneously with the expansion of Eindhoven. Such as roads that are servicing their environment, by becoming climate adaptive or even regenerative ecosystems.Meet Fien Dekker (Rain(a)Way) and Stan Kerkhofs (RWS, Low Tech Campus). From their own perspective both focus on practical, resource-efficient solutions to create a greener, more resilient world. They will share their expertise, vision and engage in a talk about wicked challenges and integral solutions, envisioning the future of our beloved Eindhoven. Moderated by Anne Ligtenberg.
Join us to discuss the future vision of our vibrant city over drinks and networking. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be part of the conversation and contribute to the future of Eindhoven!
Our city is growing fast and the world is facing huge challenges. This is the moment to connect the superpowers of our regional ecosystems. What can we envision to ensure an attractive and enduring habitat for future generations? Which experiments and prototypes are needed to stay a step ahead? What can we learn from other cities?
Special Guests
Rain(a)Way – Redesigning Water Cycles for Urban Resilience
Fien Dekker, founder of Rain(a)Way and Park Positive, is driven by the conviction that we need to redesign our cities to respond to climate change in an agile way. Rainwater excesses, drought and heat stress are problems that call for a radical overhaul of our urban environment. By bringing natural processes back into the city, such as rainwater retention and using the soil as a sponge, she is working towards a climate-resilient living environment. With her designs she offers systems that makes cities greener, using every drop of rainwater for a better balance with nature.
Low Tech Campus (RWS) – Prototyping Regenerative Infrastructure
Highways tend to be hydrological, ecological and social barriers. At the innovation site ‘Kloosters’ alongside the A58, Rijkswaterstaat (RWS, the Dutch Department of Waterways and Public Works) is now taking a first step in breaking down that barrier, while maintaining safety and speed of transport. Here, at the former gas station, Stan Kerkhofs, Living Lab specialist at Corporate Innovation Program of RWS, is creating a so called Low Tech Campus, where they experiment with harvesting, cleaning, storing and providing water from the highway for local use. A first step towards multifunctional roads.
During the event the special guests will share their expertise, vision and engage in a talk about our fast growing city. Moderated by Anne Ligtenberg.
