About this Event
Join City staff at the community bird-watching walk on Sunday, Dec. 14 at the Elder’s Mills Nature Reserve. Participate in a guided morning walk – from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and help count the number of birds and species we see, and hear, as a group.
We will meet at the entrance beside 230 Napa Valley Avenue.
This event will be held rain, snow, wind or shine. The event will also require some walking. Please dress appropriately. The pathways are not paved and there are sections with slight slopes.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own binoculars however we will have extra pairs on-site for those who need.
Following the event, we will share the data we collect in the field with the Audubon Christmas Bird Count – such as the number of birds spotted, the number of species seen and local weather conditions that morning. The Audubon Christmas Bird Count is Canada’s longest-running community science bird project. By studying and protecting birds, we can understand the overall health of our ecosystems and the environment.
