About this Event

The City of Conyers invites you to join us for a special Arbor Day celebration on Wednesday, February 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Big Haynes Creek Nature Center. This event will take place at the Pollinator Education Garden and celebrates the City's decades-long Tree USA status. A ceremonial planting will be held during the event, and the Georgia Forestry Commission will distribute native tree saplings to participants while the Rockdale County Master Gardeners will offer tips on supporting bird habitats.

The Arbor Day celebration will also mark the launch of the fourth annual “Treasures in the Trees” scavenger hunt! Participants are invited to search for decorative blossoms along the trails of the Big Haynes Creek Nature Center, where new blossoms will be placed each week. These blossoms will lead up to the much-anticipated Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival on March 21-22, 2026. Find a blossom and bring it to the festival’s information booth to exchange it for a unique, handcrafted piece of art created by one of the festival’s featured artisans. Participants can also stop by the Horse Park Admin Office or the Visitor’s Center for a free parking pass to make attending the festival even easier.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate Arbor Day in a way that both educates our community about the environment and builds excitement for the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival,” said Dawn Tanner, conservation manager at Big Haynes Creek Nature Center and CBF festival manager. “The Pollinator Education Garden is the perfect location for people to learn how they can help nature thrive, while the ‘Treasures in the Trees’ scavenger hunt adds an extra layer of fun to the festivities.”
