Learn about our important native pollinators and how to support them at home as we start to build a pollinator corridor through the city!
About this Event

Find out more about native pollinator insects, your role as a citizen scientist and how we can build healthy habitats in the city as part of this hands-on workshop.

Join an ecologist led walk and talk, record observations of the insect life in the park, and get busy building a bee-hotel to take home and start your pollinator patch.

Pollinator Guided Walk

This will be a gentle walk through the Inner Circle Park Reserve spotting insects, recording observations, and discovering the world of native pollinators with Dr. Luis Mata of LookFar Research and the University of Melbourne.

City Nature Challenge

The City Nature Challenge is the world's biggest citizen science event, participating is easy and fun! We compete with cities around the world to show off the incredible biodiveristy of Melbourne. At this workshop you can learn how to make valuable observations of the natural world that can be used in scientific research. If you're already an iNaturalist user, come along to help us capture the biodiversity of the Park Street Linear Reserve - and hear all about native pollinators in the city.

Insect Hotel Building

A strong habitat link between parks will rely on the small patches found in our backyards, nature strips and balcony gardens. Incorporating bee-friendly features into your space will help critical insects thrive in our urban environvment, supporting a healthly and resilient ecosystem. We'll supply the materials, and you can create an insect hotel to take home and get your pollinator garden started.
