About this Event
Help us record wildlife for Exeter’s first City Nature Challenge! This is a global biodiversity recording event run between 24th- 27th April 2026, when we are asking people to go out and record the wildlife they see in Exeter using the free iNaturalist app. You can join us on an organised event, go and record nature on your favourite walk around Exeter, or use your nature knowledge to verify people’s photos afterwards, contributing to our national biodiversity datasets. Join the project page here and check out the other events on our webpage
Come and join us exploring the campus birdlife! For this walk, we will be exploring the north part of campus and looking to see what birds we can find and photograph. As we won’t be feeding the birds to attract them closer, we will need all eyes and ears open to spot as many as possible!
We will be meeting in the car park next to the Astro Turf, outside the campus Sports Centre at 10:30am on Friday 24th April, and will walk for about an hour, finishing at 11:30am. Please note that as this is a weekday, campus parking requires a permit and is limited for visitors. We therefore recommend walking or getting the number 4 bus to campus.

What to bring:
· Weather appropriate clothing, and sturdy footwear such as wellies or walking boots/shoes. It may also be hot and sunny, in which case, suncream, water and a sun hat. Waterproofs if needed.
· A drink of water/snacks
· Any Medic*tion that may be required (e.g. asthma inhaler, auto injector)
· We will be providing some binoculars, but if you have your own pair that will be very handy.
· Your phone to record what we see! Remember that just because we are looking for birds doesn’t mean you can’t record anything and everything else too!
· A camera is not necessary (especially if you have perfected the art of phone photography through binoculars!) but if you have something with a decent zoom then it will make recording what we see easier.
If we need to cancel for any reason we will let you know by email 24 hours before the event.
Under 18’s are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
