Let’s contemplate our relationship with space, time and to exchange ideas. The three elements of video, music and ikebana offer diverse perspectives on the relationship between the person (us) and the environment (the city). Come together at The Gallery Particulier in Flatbush, Brooklyn for CRE 001, the first event by Control Room East celebrating creative evolution in New York City.
For the musical element, Imal Gnawa will grace us with their impactful, meditative sounds. Imal Gnawa stands at the intersection of traditions rooted in the deep spiritual and rhythmic legacy of Moroccan Gnawa music and bold futurism. Imal Gnawa seeks to weave together tribal acoustic elements with futuristic aesthetics, creating a soundscape that is as timeless as avant garde. Listen to Imal Gnawa at imalgnawa.bandcamp.com.
For the ikebana component, Flower Heart Alliance contributes their imaginative arrangements. Flower Heart Alliance is a New York–based collective of ikebana artists dedicated to sharing the radical softness and transience of ikebana with everyone, everywhere. Learn more about the collective at pine.flowers/fha.
The video element is provided by Control Room East through their new project, Kite’s End. Kite’s End is a video about how creative evolution occurs in urban space, rendering mundane space into the sacred. Creative evolution acts as the higher power and is progressed by turning what’s possible into something true. The primary goal of this experimental documentary is to cement the importance of skateboarding within the context of the city. See more from CRE at youtube.com/@ControlRoomEast
