About this Event
This session offers a high-level panel discussion on the emerging knowledge of the Urban Climate Change Research Network’s (UCCRN) Third Assessment Report on Climate Change and Cities (ARC3.3), which is being published in 2024-2025 as a collection of peer-reviewed monographs on critical topics confronting cities on climate change. The session will provide insights and discussion on the process for assessing climate change in cities and generating knowledge that leads to solutions and urban action. Panelists will highlight important peer-reviewed research, data, and knowledge emerging in ARC3.3 and larger questions of developing science-action oriented climate assessments relevant for a broad range of audiences.
ARC3.3 serves as a resource for city policymakers, practitioners, and researchers, and includes access to relevant case studies. This session will provide an overview of some of the global insights emerging from ARC3.3 and how these may be connected to local action to achieve effective climate solutions across multiple scales and sectors. The discussion will cover insights and challenges in the climate change assessment process including how to respond to knowledge gaps, defining major findings, engaging city stakeholders, working within the context of other forces that shape cities, and the importance of equity and inclusion.
Moderated by UCCRN Co-Directors, Cynthia Rosenzweig and William Solecki.
