About this Event
This full-day taster workshop gives you the opportunity to explore both pointed nib and brush pen calligraphy. You’ll experiment with a wide range of tools, inks, and colours, helping you discover which styles you enjoy most while exploring the unique effects each technique can achieve.
In the morning, we’ll focus on pointed nib calligraphy. Working through carefully structured worksheets, you’ll create letterforms using coloured inks and metallics, practising on beautiful templates designed by Kirsten Burke. With demonstrations and guided support throughout the session, you’ll gain confidence and create finished pieces you can be truly proud of. Calligraphy can feel overwhelming at first, but our step-by-step approach makes it accessible, enjoyable, and inspiring.
We will stop for lunch around 12.45 for approx 1 hour. You can either bring lunch with you or purchase from the restaurant downstairs (The Long Table).
After lunch, you’ll begin your brush pen calligraphy journey. Using a variety of pens and colours, you’ll quickly discover your favourites as you create vibrant, expressive lettering. This session is all about developing your own style and enjoying the creative process. Sarah will share plenty of tips and tricks and will be on hand to help troubleshoot any challenges along the way.
