Some Reflections on the History of CIRE: 25 Years of Continuity, Challenge and Change
Speaker: Prof. Michael Crossley
This presentation reflects upon the origins of the Centre for Comparative and International Research in Education (CIRE) and the rationale for its founding in the academic year 2000 - 2001. Attention is given to early research carried out by CIRE in the light of related developments in the broader field of comparative and international education (CIE). Continuities in our work are considered along with the challenges and changes that have contributed to ongoing activities and priorities for CIRE today.
CIRE is Contemporary, Inquiring, Reparative, Epistemic
Speaker: Prof. Angeline Mbogo Barrett
CIRE is contemporary. Masters students and doctoral researchers drive our dynamism through their critical, caring, and creative engagement with local-global educational problems. The presentation spotlights recent and current small scale and doctoral research as it traces CIRE’s expanding research agenda (which is also its teaching agenda) from social justice and sustainability to reparative and epistemic justice.
