Speakers
Shiv Misra @ Kindly
Kindly is more than just a supermarket; they are a movement towards a sustainable future. As Brighton’s beloved ethical and vegan supermarket, they are dedicated to providing thoughtful, responsible shopping options that make a real difference for our planet and our community. Their mission is simple: to offer the best vegan, cruelty-free, organic, local, and fairtrade products with carbon-neutral deliveries, ensuring that every purchase you make supports a greener, kinder world.
Shiv will discuss how Kindly's revolutionary refill stations are a core part of the circular economy and how ethical shopping is the future. He believes that people want to do good, but need convenience in a constantly busy world - this is where Kindly comes in! Where reducing, reusing and recycling is second nature, Shiv dives into how refills are not only changing the planet but also how people consume.
Emily Phillips - The Scrap Space
The Scrap Space is now open in Community Base in Brighton. It's all about creative reuse: they accept donations of unwanted resources suitable for things like art, craft, play, theatre and DIY and redistribute these at low cost. The idea is stop materials being thrown away and instead get them into the hands of people happy to reuse them, to give people access to cheap resources and provide creative inspiration. More broadly, they bring together circular economy benefits with wellbeing benefits (both through being creative and through social interaction) and money saving benefits so that all of these things are mutually reinforcing.
Piers Morrill - Soenecs
PJ Morrill is a Circular Economy Researcher at SOENECS, with a background in mechanical engineering, who specialises in conducting and interpreting life cycle assessments (LCAs), a comprehensive method to evaluate the environmental impacts of a product, process, or service.
He’ll share practical experience from conducting life cycle assessments, showing how LCA uses data to understand environmental impacts and support informed, sustainable decision-making, alongside a live demonstration of how an LCA is carried out in practice.
